What qualifies for a Montessori toy?

Toys/play based on:

• Teaching practical life skills
• Control of error – self-correcting toys to foster confidence and independence
• Eco-friendly and natural materials (think wooden toys, tin, etc., and minimal plastic)
• Real-world people, places, and things; limited/no cartoons!
• Fostering each of the five senses
• Simple toys, no electronic toys with batteries/flashy lights or bright colors
• Encourage a deep focus and concentration
• Develop hand-eye coordination
