Service Description

Your caregiver can spend hundreds of hours with your child every month. Giving them greater knowledge, confidence and practical skills can influence far more than the five hours we spend together. Complete Caregiver Training is an in-depth, personalised programme designed around your child, your caregiver and the way your family lives. The aim isn’t to give your caregiver a list of activities to copy. It’s to help them understand why play matters, how your child learns, when to step in, when to step back and how everyday time together can become more meaningful. How the Training Works Part 1 — Understanding Your Child We begin with the individual child. We explore their age and stage, interests, personality, communication, cues, strengths and areas where they may benefit from additional opportunities or support. Part 2 — Understanding Play We explore how children learn through sensory, imaginative, creative, physical and open-ended play. Your caregiver learns how to choose appropriate activities, follow the child’s interests, extend play naturally and understand when adult involvement is — and isn’t — helpful. Part 3 — Purposeful Play at Home We look at your existing toys, resources and play environment. Together we'll explore how to create simple invitations to play, rotate resources, use everyday household objects and get significantly more value from toys the family already owns. Part 4 — Independent & Screen-Free Play We explore how to encourage children to initiate and sustain their own play without requiring constant adult entertainment. We also look at screen habits, common trigger points and realistic screen-free alternatives that can work within your family's everyday routine. Part 5 — Everyday Learning & Independence Finally, we look beyond activities. We explore how getting dressed, preparing food, tidying up, going outside, having conversations and other everyday routines can support independence, communication, confidence and development. Hands-On Learning: • Observing caregiver and child interaction • Demonstrating different ways to engage • Setting up activities together • Caregiver practising techniques themselves • Reviewing toys and resources • Looking at the play environment • Creating invitations to play • Discussing everyday routines • Identifying opportunities for independence • Questions and feedback throughout
