DIY Home Sensory Activity: Melting Insects

What you need:


  • Water

  • Ice trays

  • Miniature figures

Instructions:


Insect figurines or any figurines into plastic containers, ice cube/ trays and freeze.

You can then squinter with with warm water or place in bath tub.





Ways to adapt:


make figures into individual ice cubes or freeze in one giant tray and use tools like a hamper to extract (this is more suitable for older children)

You can add food dye to the water to change the colours which then melts in different colours


Benefits:

  • Melting Insects in Ice is also a great sensory activity using warm and and cold items to explore the senses. The squinter bottles are filled with warm water and used to help melt the ice to get the insects out. Fine Motor Development
