DIY Home Sensory Activity: Jelly Dig

What you need


  • Container

  • Jelly

  • Any objects (these can vary with the development of the child)

  • Tools for extraction

Instructions


Mix the jelly (make as per instructions) with objects or food ie grapes and wait for it to set. Then give your child some tools and see what they do.


Notes


If you want to use a large container you may want to do one layer first, wait for it to set and then add another so that all the items are staggered.


Benefits:


A fun sensory play idea where the toddler is encouraged to find hidden animals/toys/items from jello filled bowl.


Ways to adapt:


  • This can be adapted in so many different ways depending on the age of your little one. For example, you can adapt to develop small world play and create an ocean setting

  • Mix different colors of jelly

  • Add letters/numbers to increase educational advantages

  • Include objects of different sizes

  • Get your child to uses tools and not just their hand to take out the objects to make it more challenging

  • Take direct from the freezer for that extra sensory expierce.
