Prep time: 10 minutes

Difficulty: Easy Peasy

Estimated Cost: 20 AED

Mess level: Medium

What you need

  • Baking powder

  • Flour

  • Salt

  • Food coloring

  • Water

  • Containers,

  • Cardboard/ paper

  • Microwave

Top Tip

Mix in ziploc bag, twist and add an elastic bank to create an icing bag effect. This will be easier to squirt onto the page.

Or even better invest in plastic squirty bottles this will be much easier for children to apply.

Benefits:

Children will have fun playing with the paint and learn about innovation and creativity.

They will love seeing the transformation from when their artwork goes in the microwave and how it comes out.

Instructions

  • Start with one cup of flour and mix in 3 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt and enough water to make it the consistency of pancake batter.

  • Divide the mix into four parts and put them into bowls or Ziploc baggies along with some food coloring.

  • Part of the fun will be squishing it all around to mix up the colors!

  • And then its ready - paint away!

  • When you’re finished, pop the painting into the microwave for 30-45 seconds and watch the paint puff up and grow – such fun!

  • I loved that it was completely dry out of the microwave so you dont have to worry about any extra messes or accidents as our pile of paintings grew.
