DIY Home Sensory Activity: Rainbow Spaghetti

What you need


  • Plastic storage bin

  • Food colors

  • Spaghetti

  • Ziploc bags

  • Olive Oil

Instructions


Cook and drain the spaghetti first. Make 4 to 5 equal batches. Put each of these batches into Ziploc bags and add a few drops of food color and a tea spoon of olive oil. In each bag use, different colors of your choice. Mix the color and spaghetti till it absorbs the color.


Notes


If you are making the night before add a little extra water so the spaghetti does not dry out.

Bright colorful spaghetti is a perfect sensory play idea for toddlers and preschoolers. They can touch and feel the texture of the spaghetti and it also encourages them to explore different colors.


Ways to adapt:


  • Add objects that you can colour match

  • Add tongs to develop fine motor skills

  • Add pots to encourage transferring

Top Tip:


For fuzzy eaters add a little bit of butter(and maybe a meat ball or two) and serve up for dinner
